TOKYO’S MOOMIN CUP AND CHERRY BLOSSOM

Yes, it’s way past cherry blossom season but hey, it’s spring in other parts of the world too, yas?

Welcome back my lovely readers and this blog post is way overdue. Honestly I did a YouTube vlog on it and how much fun I had experiencing cherry blossom for the first time in Tokyo, Japan, I hadn’t thought there was need to write on it too. Procrastination is an enemy. https://youtu.be/RFXD7zgx5Dw

Getting to the street was super easy since everything is translated in English too. My hotel was quite a distance from the city however I had great company so why not explore.

The concierge did inform us March was not a great time to see the cherry blossom from the city however, what does a first timer know haha!

Crowded city, clean yet busy; locals were very respectful to tourists and yes I had sushi too coz why not.

If you are a fan of Japanese manga, I’m sure you’ve come across adventures of Naruto, to be ‘Hokage someday!’ Hahaha! So yea, I had to have my ‘Naruto ramen’ too and it was delish.

Having only 7 hours to explore, I squeezed my time as much as I could for I was searching for the latest Moomin cup. They are famous in Japan as they are in Finland and even though I was unsuccessful, I did enjoy myself despite a flu that couldn’t keep me down.

Hopefully next time a longer trip will favor more sightseeing.

Any plans to visit Tokyo? Let’s share a to do list…

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN TOKYO

1. Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden with more than 10,000 cherry blossom trees. Best time to visit is March and April.

2. Tsukiji Market is one of the best and biggest places to get the freshest fish. Better go early as it opens from 3am and there is quite a crowd build up by that time.

3. Visit Tokyo National Museum in Taitō as it hosts more than 100,000 ancient Japanese artifacts

4. Visit Ueno park, an entire day’s trip so it’s better to pack well enough and yes, putting on a kimono is a long time dream for many, something that you’ll get to do here, even though there are many places around to do it and walk the streets in a traditional Japanese attire.

5. Visit Asakusa shrine and Sensoji temple in Asakusa. There is a reason this place has 30million visitors a year so why not find out why.

Till next time…
